Yes I have many times. If you create something better than the competition then that gives you a leg up to begin with. Outdo your competition with a far superior product and low ball them at the same time with a price that is half as much.

I have done some research on several sites in my niche, some are really good, and have been around for years, but don;t get much traffic. Others don't look so great, have been around for less than a year, and get a lot of traffic. I'm trying to figure out the difference between these sites...

Main thing is what you mean by success. It is better to go slow and increase the visibility of your website slowly, as the things which rise sharply are prone to downfall. So, if one is persistent and patient, and of course clear about the idea. No goal will be big enough..Like I'm building this site and not expect a penny in the next 6 months untill I have a good subscriber base.

Patients and persistence is the key alright. Building a subscriber base can be challenging, trial and error all the time for me anyway.

One way is by having a membership based site that has a recurring payment.

I would say there's a lot of factors playing a role in this, I have a site that's almost 3 years in the working now and it earning me the same as one of my new sites that almost 10 months old now.

1 month is a good time to know if you got something going that could be successful but 1 day is not going to happen.

If your site get's t.v. exposure then you could be successful in 1 day with tons of traffic.
