How long did it take you to build a successful website

How long would you say it took you to develope and them implement a website that was able to earn you a great deal of revenue? This could be recurring revenue or even just a case where you then turn around and sell the website.

It really depends what you mean by successful.

I have started a site and a couple of months later earned $1000+ in a week from advertising on the site as it went viral.

I've found such peaks to be rare though - building successful sites takes time and building an audience even longer.

He is right.
Also it highly depends from you and your possibilities.

It took me about a year to build a site that makes me 1400$ per month.

I think the best plan is to set a goal. Then once you reach the goal set a new goal.

For example if you own a site that makes $100/month from AdSense set the goal of making $150/month in the next 6 months.

How much you can make really depends if you are selling a product or advertising and the niche of your site.

Honestly I don't really remember, and a "great deal of revenue" is pretty relative. But I would estimate my first site was making me about $2k a month net after about a 8 months.

I am not yet success with my blog so I cannot tell it right now. In the past, my blog earns me max $200 and I sold it. Now I am back from the beginning. I need lots of energy this time to make the blog give me autopilot money

Hi,
It all depends on your efforts or goals. May be it can take week, month or year to make a successful website.

Most have already stated the question, how do you define success? My first website launched in 1996 and went flat. My second launched on December 7th 2006 and within days made $1,000.000 and continued for several years to bring in $1,200.00/week.

I just launched a new site and am getting about 75 new members daily. I consider the site mentioned above and my new site a success so far although there is still plenty of work to do.

I'll let you know when I find out. They say, "Things worth having don't come Easy!" Think I have something worth keeping because it sure hasn't been Easy, it has been fun though!

It depends upon your devotion, as I think. By the way, for me, the span of six months are sufficient for a website.

I would say that it all depends on the amount of effort you put in to it. I would say that a majority of success comes from good planning and research. If you're looking to make money with a website, sba.gov is a good place to learn how to develop a successful business. They have all sorts of resources for you.

I think launching something that has the potential to go viral is the best bet for fast money. Otherwise it will probably take a year or two to make enough to live on.

Six months is sufficient but can't give you guarantee that you will earn after a six months because its depend on traffic which you are receiving on your web site ....
