Very true as you want to serve your visitors with relevant resources which brings value to them, your site and your overall payments.
Every week I try and browse through my sites to check each ad being served and see the quality of each site.
If the url is just an affiliate site or a directory or just something totally off topic I'll ban the url via the adsense ctrl panel - doing this could might remove higher payout ads but if your looking after your visitors interest and reliability of your site removing the urls shouldn’t be a concern.
Also what works for me may not work for Darren or anyone else for that matter so its extremely important to test test test. My rule of thumb is when I make a change to the Adsense I will leave it on for 2-4 weeks and review its performance at the end. This way I can tell if its worth leaving the changes or it worth changing. Yeah its time consuming but I know I am in this for the long haul.
