Custom Ads, adsense, yahoo, ebay, etc.

One of my forum members and I have been discussing eBay ads, adsense, etc. He came up with the idea of how it would be cool if the ad rotated between different types (so the same block changed from adsense to ebay, and whatever else you run) etc.

From there, we were thinking it would be even better if forum members could PICK their own keywords. Since my forum is based around a tv show, I picked keywords related for the eBay ads and encouraged the forum members to let me know what else they would like on it. That way they can keep tabs on the eBay items related to the show.

is this type of ad block a possibility for someone with the code knowledge? I run a phpbb right now and just think something like this would be pretty cool.
