Forum, Directory, Blog

Hi

I am planning a site with all three - forum, directory, blog - all on the same theme and I hope all will complement and drive traffic to each other. Which should I focus on as the main site with regards money - investing and generating, time, effort etc, or should I give equal importance to each?

V7N has two blogs and one forum, and the forum is the most time consuming, but it also drives the most traffic. I'd think you'd want to focus on the forum.

Thanks John. That's pretty much what I thought - that a forum would take the most work but is where you can bring in traffic and actually build some kind of community.

Your focus should definitely be on the forum as building a successful forum does take a lot of time and effort.

focus on your directory, just look at yahoo and dmoz

In the future or even now niche directories are going to be profitable. I'm working on some niche directories for sites I already have some in, and ppl I work on too.. great selling extra services that way

I agree, a forum is the one to go for.

Also, for other ways of marketing, don't forget article marketing. The more articles, the more backlinks.

I know everyone has already answered, but i have to agree. Build the membership site - and then you have a ready built market for your other stuff
