I believe most of them are making money from either affiliates or advertises.

they make a lot of money..for the past few months i have been researching on how coupons site works and what are the keywords they are targeting...
Coupons site don't need unique content, but requires a lot of manual work..so with a team you can achieve success..

Yes, they make but it's limited to a limit as there are lots of website in this niche and it's almost very tough to get good rank in short span, so you will have to keep working for a good rank.

Yes. Coupon and discount websites make a decent amount of money. But let me tell you one thing. It's very competitive.

But once you rank it, it is easier to monetize with Adsense and affiliate marketing.

One Pro tip - Find out a low competition store and try to rank it rather than going to rank the very high competitions.

It's not as easy as it looks but the real successful ones entered into this market so early and have adapted there business to current times with continued features, professional design and partnerships with many companies around the world for crazy deals.

Don't start one not unless you are willing to invest real money into your site throughout the year to try to come even close to your top competitors in traffic.

It is a hard business. I owned a coupon site but sold it as it was not worth it.

I bought a already running coupon website that had over 100 000 emails. We were sending promotional emails 5 days a week and we received a lot of traffic from it but it was really difficult to get good deals. I had 3 people that were doing telemarketing for me just to find new companies that would put a god deal on my website. We were 3 partners and had 4 employees, now you can imagine how much money you have to earn to cover the costs of so many people. It is high competition and companies try to sell you cheap offers masked as great deals.

If you go through the balance sheet of these couponing sites or online retailers what you will see is blood of investors poured through discounts. This is a case in India I failed to understand why companies like Alibaba and investor like Jack ma is wasting money on these couponing discounting sites. I also visit conventional markets and what I see is destruction due to these couponing discounting sites. It's a horrible site it is another bubble which will blow up soon.

The top companies in India will no doubt always be on top because people still believe they can be the next big thing in this niche.. To late and the top dogs not telling the true secrets at all.

I hate it when people in India start a deals/coupon site because I know they will just fail and not reach there dreams for that site. Although I will still help them with there SEO questions or review there site... it's a lost cause. Without lots of investment, it's hard to be successful in the deals/coupons niche.

The point I was making as a USA dude is I see way to many coupon sites start up in india. I'm on another webmaster forum in which 90% members are from India so I still help them if I am but I never tell them that it's a hard business to succeed for a long time.

I buy things online when I get coupons because I do most of my shopping online cause I'm lazy to drive to the store or what I want isn't in my state.

Can we both agree that to succeed for a long time in this niche, it will take some investment. You know a good theme or custom theme and cool graphic's and such so it's not a boring coupon site. You need to keep that first time visitor to keep coming back to use your coupons so first impression is the key. More traffic will equal better income.

Based on my experience, it is really a waste of time. There are already tons of site doing it. Instead of creating coupon/deal site, work some other product with clear solution to any problem that user love to see.

There are many sites like this can make lots of money. The thing is that you should spend time find good domain names, then choose right programs and website the offering discount and coupons like hosting, products.

If you give more discount to your visitors, surely the customer surely came again to your site.

Update your coupons every 2 to 3 days or may be you need to update daily. Because you have to manage minimum 100+ stores needed for getting start. So it's look like coupon site.

Yeah they make money and much more than you think. All these coupon and deals websites now use some form of bots to catch up with the latest coupon codes.

Depends how you use them. If you continually have discounts on your products it may give the impression to customers that your products are not really worth what you are selling them for. Discounts should be ran seasonally, and always add urgency or a time limit to the promotion.

Definitely possibilities are very high, so the competition too. It's a very tough deal to rank and bring in enough coupons since there are very large players already saturated the market. I would highly suggest you to make a review platform instead of coupons.
