Commission Junction / Rhapsody
Has anyone used any Commission Junction affiliates? I'm thinking about using the Rhapsody affiliate program... it pays $15 per free trial sold (wow!). But it seems tooo good to be true, and my experience has been that if it seems too good, it usually is.
Anyone done any work with either companies?

Not bad!
I actually thought the ebay thing would work for my forum. it was a fansite for a tv show and I had it only showing ads for related memorbilia. worked pretty well too, saw some Alsyon Hannigan signed pictures and stuff like that come up.

I signed up for CJ before... nothing ever materialized from it, so I dropped it. I guess it depends on the niche.

Hey Dustin. Cj is a good thing. I've made around 40k from them over the last couple years. 2 years ago I had a $20k year with cj. Mainly selling skin care products and clothing.
Like Julie says - " it depends on the niche "
Just my opinion but I wouldn't get your hopes up with Rhapsody. Good thing is though, there are so many options in Cj to choose from.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks
I'm finding that in my stats area it reports zero impressions or clicks. I'm not sure why, should have shown a couple hundred impressions a day, and I've clicked a few times just to see if it would record and it hasn't. Have you experienced that at all with CJ?

Ok, no I haven't had that problem. In 4 years I've never noticed a problem with Cj tracking. Sometimes its delayed, but they provide warnings and updates on that kind of stuff. I generally don't use Cj banners but instead I use their product datafeeds - That could be why I have never noticed a tracking issue.
Dustin are you using a banner from Rhapsody or a text link ?
Troubleshooting the stats you could also try posting a Musicmatch banner up next to your Rhapsody banner and see if the click thrus register with a different program - Just an idea.

that's a good idea, I'll try that.
I'm using both, text links and banners, generated through CJ using the code they provide. I'm going to contact them as well I think. I'm not concerned about missing sales as much as I think there should at least be a showing of the impressions. I know there have been hundreds if not thousands by now.

Many of the free trials sound good but are tough...
CJ has Tickle for eg. where they pay <$1 just for users to sign up for personality profile but did not get anything from those free profile signups. Only had $10 commission from Tickle for Paid Personality test by a user.

yes, tried a number of the affiliates.
Tried the high paying ones webhosts Gate.com , Hostgator,Godaddy
Tried Travel sites like Thomson etc
Tried shopping comparison like Pricerunner & personality sites like Tickle
Overall, I spent more on advertising than commission earned (low $xx). Get lots of hits on webhosts but no purchase. Travel sites are tough.
PriceRunner & Tickle is easier ('cos they are almost similar to PPC Adsense) even though they pay peanuts but if you don't have to pay for your traffic, it is not bad.
I spent on advertising to get targetted traffic to earn the commissions and did not have deep pockets so could not last. (Note: Only did short term 2mth experiment)
IMHO, it takes time and gentle persuasion and from what I see, works better when you gently personalise & introduce/recommend them in your blogs/articles. Rather than just inserting the affiliate links/banners within and around the content.

I've had a lot of luck with a similar program on CJ, GameFly. They are paying $15 per free trial signup as well, it's worked for me.
