Adsense Placement - What do you think ?

So I've been thinking about using Adsense on this e-commerce website for a long time, but I haven't because I didn't want to distract customers from making a purchase. Tonight I added Adsense to the website's product detail pages... I'm wondering if it was a good decision.

The website gets a lot of traffic but only 1 or 2 sales a day. At the very least I know I can try it out and then take it off.

My question is what do you think about the Adsense placement here ?

Here's an example page -

Second - is it a bad idea to have these ads on an e-commerce website ?

What do you think ?

I think the placement and look of the AdSense ads is fine. Looks like pretty good integration to me.

I'm not sure I would use the ads on product pages though since I would think one sale will be more profitable for you than a lot of clicks on the ads. I'd sooner work to improve conversions than trying to make up for poor conversions with the ads.

If you had some informational pages on the site I think the ads could work on those pages, but I'd be leary of having them on the product pages. I would think they'll just lead to less sales and I would think you'd rather have a sale than an AdSense click.

I was going to suggest putting the ads on the search page, but I am suddenly
struck by the idea that the mighty G won't allow that. Am I right?

I would never to adsense on a page where I was trying to sell a product. That is, unless you were making such a small percentage off of each sale that it almost equalled a click on an ad...at which case you need more traffic or a different niche.

Exactly.

AdSense on eCommerce... I'd never do it either.

Me second that. Unless of course it's ads that display products that be bought from the site itself, than it's ok.

I personally won't go with adsense on an ecommerce site.
If the conversions are low, get some copywriting help, target your traffic and advertising, ease up on the purchase process, try and find out why the conversion is low and then become a millionaire
Bye

Yup, no way you should stick PPC on sales pages. I do still see people doing
it though - probably because they put up a product which doesn't sell, and
then figure they will get rich using AdSense instead of investing a decent
copywriter. Ah well
