Experienced Webmasters, I've got a question...
I'm looking for site content ideas that will get good amount of traffic and that will help me make money from Adsense and similar sponsors. I'm thinking about building a site for American and Canadian users. I just need some suggestions about what the site could be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

If you have any hobbies/interests/passions/fetishes... you could make a website about one of them.

Aren't we all? What you're asking for is somewhat of a holy grail..
so I doubt you're going to get any real answers. It's like asking,
"How can I make $5,000 in a week?". Anyone that knows how to
isn't going to tell you how, because they want all the money for
themselves!
johnnys advice is good - find something you enjoy, and then look
to see how you can monetize that niche.

Start with a blog. It won't generate much traffic at the beginning but that's a good start.

Make a site about something that you are already passionate about. If you have passion it will stand out from the crowd. If you are just doing it for the money that will show.

i think what WillB has said makes sense and can be taken at its face value. wake up guys follow what your heart says n dont rush for money.Being the beginner, you should gear up urself to face any bloody losses. each such loss will help you learn somthing out of it.

I think you need brainstorming. I personally do that myself, too, and I have found an idea for my own website.
Try to list domain names that you think are unique and will create memorable impression, and think about what content you can insert in it. Imagine all the possibilities and write it down.
After you have had a list, you can go through it from the beginning to mark those that you can start now or immediately.
Alternatively, you can go the other way" brainstorm things that you like, then think about the domain names/site names that are attractive, think about unique things that you can add in the site, and so on and so forth.

'Wood...
Just another suggestion...
Head for Hollywood, rent a cheap but ridiculously expensive flat, hookup your laptop to your newly wired high-speed internet connection and start your brand new "first-hand-hollywood-gossip.com" web site.
Attend some hot events, take pictures, film the stars and tape comments.
Post everything you can online and make sure to dig for the real dirt... that's what sells the most (if you want to last in the business, be nice, though).
After a few months of doing this, you should be getting decent traffic from countless other "entertainment" blogs and you might even get syndicated by a larger blog operation.
In a matter of years, you should have enough money to live decently while getting a few exclusives, once in a while, from the stars you "treat" well ; )

I didn't mean to make money to live off of the web site. That is not what I want.
Thank you all for your replies and ideas.

I agree with the others saying to make a site about something you enjoy. Heck, I have a website about being a flea market vendor. It's not a big internet niche at all... but I'm slowly building my income from it and having fun doing it at the same time.

I think it takes time for any website to start making money, lots of time, lots of work if possible advertising it and getting backlink to me it seems the work never stops so just keep on working bro.
SPEEDY
enjoy

Web mastering is like digging for gold. Remember the Gold Rush? It's not about who's smarter, or better looking, it's about who digs in the right spot. There are a million of us out there now, and a few of us are making a good living. Why? Because they dug in the right spot. When you ask successful webmasters for ideas, it's like asking a successful gold digger where to dig. He's always gonna tell you to go dig over there. The key to success isn't to ask the gold diggers(webmasters) where to dig, but to watch where they are digging at, and how it is that they found that particular spot.
My point? Don't expect a tell all answer here, because it won't happen. What you have to do will become more obvious as you watch what the successful are doing. Once you do that, then the trick is to beat them to the next punch.... But if it helps, joining a community of gold diggers is a great start.

i don't think there's a limited amount of bread to be made online, IMHO. So there's no reason not to share. You can try Earner's Forum where they've got a very good thread on finding niches. (aff, no cash directly to me if you sign up, it's part of a contest)
On a related note, you may care for my blog, siteflip.blogspot.com, about buying, flipping, and selling sites at a profit.
