Hummm...
If you're relying on the v7n forum to get your own forum known to the world, that may be a nice vote of confidence for this venerable forum but it may prove somewhat naive (I say this respectfully, of course).
Launching a new web destination is hard work (you may already know this) and you're going to have to become "active" on many more communities than just this one to get an audience large enough to live by (from memberships, advertising or otherwise).
This otherwise wonderful community aims, as far as I know, to help techies connect in a nicely structured forum setting.
Being active in such a community and helping others might score you a few more interested web visitors but don't stop there -- market your new online destination in -other communities too- where you feel your service might be appreciated.
Be bold, venture into the vast cyberworlds that await!
Of course, the more you post here, the more v7n'ers will learn about you and what you do -- let's say it's a "smart marketing angle" ; )

Firstly, welcome to the forums
Unfortunately posting in forums alone will not make you rich...
It is a great start though! Hanging around in forums is great for getting your signature seen, but is also an excellent place to learn new things and meet new people. Just be like a little sponge and learn as much as you can. Keep asking questions too - is the best way to learn

Forums posting is good exposure, but make sure you contribute effectively. If you contribute in a destructive manner you will be remembered for this more then if you gave good sound advice. Unfortunately the manner for which you are remembered when negative is not good for you new site nor you.
Forums are a great meeting place and give you some exposure, but are by no means a way to become rich. You will, however, get rich on the knowledge gained learning from others who are successfully marketing their sites to others through many different venues. So it is best to look at a forum as a means to an end.
I have found that I am more active in this community now for one simple reason "the people" The knowledge is freely shared without people berating each other. That knowledge can be helpful so use it and read all the forums because I have found helpful information from each of them.
Good Luck and welcome to the forums!

Well, you can't really make money with posting on forums by they are good for exposure.

Great article Angelus. This is defenitely something that is very true. No matter what name you use as your forum name though you have to remember that it is the way you conduct yourself that is the ultimate measure of who you are perceived to be by others.

Gosh... I've posted probably tens of thousands of posts on various forums and I'm not rich yet. I don't think one has really anything to do with the other.

In some forums you can sell your sig links and make some money... but you won't be rich for sure

How true. I have done the same, but for reasons beyond trying to garner visitors. I only come to a forum that has useful information and good people. Your reputation is what you will gain from forums. This can be a factor later when advertising your site, but as for forums posting it is not really going to make you much money if any for the most part.

I guess you got your priority wrong.... make the forum a good one first... if it's that good, you never know Yahoo might just buy it!

There are ways that you can make money on forums - here are 3 that you give you a chance to earn directly from posting.
1) Forum posting, some people will pay you to post on their forums. Usually earn up to 10-20 cents per post.
2) Sell your signature link - will be more effective if you are a prolific poster.
3) Sell your avatar. Some people are selling them now - as another means of advertising.
Each of these ways will not make you a millionaire. You are much better off developing your site more, getting to know people and working on getting noticed by the search engines.
Hope all goes well,
Cindy

Hey Guys, I ain't talking about forum sigs and traffic from this forum or other forums in order to get rich, you missed my point
Here is what I had in mind:
The number of posts can reveal your experience then the time you spent on promoting and improving your website(s) so... after 400 or 2000 posts here, what is your reputation and how are you doing with your websites ?

Who told you can become rich once you posted in forums? This is place where you can expose yourself and also get enough idea to place your website in a good place with decent PR.

Well, if you are talking about this forum specifically, I'm obviously rather new here. I think its a tricky thing to judge. After all, one would learn more from reading the forum than posting, for example, in an introduction or general chat thread. I still say the two are not related - too many variables.
