newbie question
Im pretty new to this and i think im actually off to a good start ive got about 1000 uniques a day coming to one of my sites and im pretty proud of it only after about a month.
my question is
1. How does everyone make profit from their sites, i know there is the ppc ads and some affiliate programs, but what other tooks are out there?
2.How would i go about buying and selling websites, i was thinking about buying and pumping up and then selling but where woul di go aboutbuying and selling them?
Thanks for the time, and one more question I dont know if anyone will want to answer this, but how much do you make off your website in relation to how many uniques a day?

Hi Jeff,
Nice to see your site has come on in leaps and bounds since I first saw
it!
1. Selling products is in my eyes the best way of profiting from a site.
You can sell a $1,000, $5,000 or even $10,000 info-product with virtually
no costs.
Of course, buying and selling sites is equally profitable. Buying a site for
$100 and selling for $10,000 is like magic
2. Selling websites can be done in places like SitePoint.com's marketplace,
and Digital Point forum's marketplace. If you can prove traffic and revenue
figures, you can probably get 10-12 months income as a price.
If you're going to buy, consider using escrow services like
http://Escrow.com
to cut down on the risk of being ripped off, especially if you're buying a
large and expensive site.

What defines a site that would sell for a lot?
1. The site's revenue.
2. The site's expenses.
3. The site's history.
The longer it's been earning more than it costs, the more it will sell for.
As I mentioned above, usually sites go for 10-12 times the last 3 months
average earnings.
A site that profits $200 a month would go for $1,750-$2,250. Probably.
Info products are digital products (eBooks, databases, software etc) that
are based on information. Selling "how-to" guides is a good example.

Lets say i have a site about Java. What should do to earn from this method? Should i contact to product owners in my domain? Do you have email templates for this since the approach should be very important in this way.

I like to sell information. It is a great way to compliment any other products you may have as well. Make a special report that relates to whatever you sell on the site and offer it in a bundle along with the product. Tell people that for just ten more dollars they can ad the report to their order. You will likely get a lot of takers if the report is well targeted and high quality.

Hi Mike,
You might want to approach some larger firms that sell products that reach your target audience and sell them ads yourself. That way you don't have to wait for clicks.
What is the topic of the site?

Hi Jeff,
Let me ask; Why to sell a successful web site? I mean if there's anyone willing to pay $1 000 000 or more, then it's worth it. Selling it for $10 000? I think it's not worth it. Bear in mind that old, trusted, successful web site has bigger value than thousands of dollars. It's because it can contain links, useful content, can become an authority at it's area, etc. You never know if it won't get 100K (or even more) unique visitors one day.
Just a thought, it's your business .

I came across a tool called DNScoop that helps you value web sites.
You can see it at http://www.dnscoop.com/
It seems to take more things into account than others I've seen. It factors in:
-Alexa ranking
-Age of domain name
-page rank
-number of indexed pages in Google
It shows my Free Traffic Bar site as worth $12,910. Not bad in just 1.5 years, but of course I wouldn't sell it for that as I make a lot more off of it in a year than that.
I had fun plugging in other traffic exchanges and mine is worth more than some that have been around a lot longer. So I guess I am doing something right!

Wow thats excellent for just 1 month Hopefully you'll be able to share your experience and methods in the marketing forum
Services such as Google Adsense and Chitika are probably some of the best ways to make money.
As for selling websites you can visit various website auction sites and also post a website for sale ad at v7n

GR8 tool , thanks for posting it. It shows my domain is worth $16748 . However, Alexa ranking is quite inaccurate in my experience. For example, it shows better ranking for my services-seo.net than my aqua-fish.net. Aqua-fish has from 1500 up to 2100 visitors each day this month. That seo site has up to 120 visitors each day. Visits are counted by G Analytics. .... But it's another story...
