Contextual Vs Made For Adsense

Loren pointed to a good post:

Made For Adsense Sites = Dead

Quote:
Made for Adsense is dead because if you have a site that is specifically made for adsense ads sooner than later you will get smartpriced.

Peterd_d,

I read the post and it is a compelling argument for why MFA sites = "dead". This guy is certainly a player and has a good perspective. But here's my argument of why his premise is flawed.

(1) His concept of a MFA site being "smartpriced". He's inferring that the major reason why a MFA sites visitor clicks on an add is to simply escape the site? The add invariably is going to be related to the product the theme of the site is based on. With enough visible adds the visitor may find exactly what he or she wants and has a possible chance of converting into a sale.

So, my take on the overall economy is that the old school retailers who at one time acted as the "middle men" are now replaced by "information middle men" who via their MFA sites are just passing the info to the end consumer who wants it. I agree its getting in the way of the end sale. It's just my observation.

Text link sites could do both couldn't they? That would be another way to boost overall profitability.

Again, take my observations with a grain of salt, because I haven't made enough as a web master to pay for a decent... decent anything.. lol.

I think people put to much faith into adsense.

Build strong sites and you can find ways to make money.

Complete misunderstanding of MFA farmer's mindset.

They hold hundreds, thousands of sites. In time when one will get smartpriced, dozens new will spring.

Yes, MFAs are less profitable than they were --- those who were making millions from their farms now only earn hundreds of thousands

Hello,
Very nice article. I hope yes, MFA is dead, the best way is to create a strong site and try to create a community or something like that, then think what we can offer..
