Just depends on what it is that you feel most comfortable with and what type of investment you want to make, in both time and money. Anyways, I'd suggest making a site that had a lot of related sites and forums that you could get links from.
Also try and find a topic that provides content that people need to read. Like a tutorial site.

My advice is focus. Why do I advise focus? Because I lack it and I know it's held me back. I'm doing alright (I've been able to work for myself for about 2.5 years now) but I know I could be doing MUCH better if I were able to just focus on one project at a time instead of .. hm.. about 50 at a time.

Here's a step-by-step plan for generating income:

1. Register an email address with Gmail.
2. Register a blog at Blogger. It must contain a keyword in the niche you're working in, eg. www.travelspecials.blogspot.com.
3. Post about 3 times a week to your blog, with relevant news on your niche.
4. In these posts, have relevant affiliate links you found at Clickbank.
5. Register with Ezinearticles, and write 10 relevant articles a week.
6. At the bottom of the article, include your bio-box, with a link to your blog.
7. The most important part: Keep on doing this, the money will come.
8. Do the above with 5 to 10 blogs.

Thanks for the tips Adriaan. I really like it. The only issue is here, you have to be like professional writer to follow the schedule for the articles and blogs you posted. That's understandable, if you hire a team of writers which will market your site, your success is almost guaranteed. Otherewise you have to do it by yourself, (articles blogs...... articles blogs.......) and it's very time consuming. Anyway, it makes a sense what you say. Agree

dont spend $
like do a new blog in blogspot
register an adsense account put it there and exchange links


or you may start with a proxy site by spending some $40
but this makes much more if you could do the job

For a beginner I would recommend becoming an affiliate go to clickbank.com or paydotcom.com and look up some products that you can promote. Most Affiliate programs from these two sights provide 'marketing tips'. Check out Ebay as well. Please research,research it helps and be very PATIENT. Start with a couple of programs lets say 5 then advertise via Blogging, Publishing Articles which is FREE advertising then once you get the 'hang' of it use pay-per-click campaigns.
