Myspace Clone?

I have a decent domain that I bought about a year ago thats just sitting collecting dust. I finally figured out what I want to do with it but I dont know where to start.

Im looking for a script that I can install on my server that is sort of a "myspace clone" . Basically a place where people can go and create a profile and connect with other users. It will be a total niche demographic and has a super good potential to be a huge money maker. Here are my questions.

Whats the best one?
Are there any free ones?
What is the type of script actually called?


PS.
I did try to install Boonex Dolphin but it wont install correctly on my servers for some reason.

Any help is appreciated. Mods, if this is the wrong area for this topic please feel free to move it.

I don't know of such a script but I personally think cloning MySpace won't get you very far.

Saturated niche with very big players. Unless your are putting a unique spin on it then I can't see it doing well and it would need to be part of a larger site.

Bold move. If you are serious about competing then I would recommend hiring your own coder to create the script. Finding a social network script that's capable of any kind of growth will be difficult, but I guess it all depends on how much you are willing to commit to the cause.

Yeah, I agree with the others, you'll really have to come up with some slick idea then patent it so Myspace can't steal the idea and people will use your site instead.

that's true. it's too hard to clone it in a simple way.

then once you have it running really good you'll find facebook.com and be immediately depressed that they're already doing amazingly well.. and it's designed and running amazingly well, simple, and efficient
