Trying to make $1 a day ... need some help.

Hey v7n,

I recently started a new website, http://gmarcade.com. I am getting about 1000 uniques a week, I am not sure if that is good or bad.

I am hosting on a $30 a month VPS, so all I want to make in revenue is $30/month or $1/day.

Currently I make anywhere from $0 to $1 a day...but most of that is $0's. I am using Google AdSense.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Should I be using a different program?

I think your site runs a little slow...I am on T1 and still had to wait. Besides that, depending on the site, $7 per 1000 uniques is not out of line, especially if it is return visitors...Return visitors do not click as many ads.

I would try some more strategically placed text ads, big in your face images can be overwhelming. Try it for a week, if your click through doesnt improve then change back....That is my two cents, for what it is worth.

Where do you live? As the server is in California and a lot of my users are in the UK and they have never complained about speed. Where would you suggest I place these strategic links?

Working on the traffic issue...or at least trying to work on it. I will try using some text ads, where should they be placed...maybe by the download or play now button?

It seems slightly faster today, I am on the east coast...as far as where to put the text ads, I think I would replace the adtoll adds with google a text banner that matches your background exactly. Maybe put one at the bottom as well. It is easy enough to change, I would test several configurations.

Also, Google will not like that you have other advertising on the same page as them...could get you banned just an FYI. Google is picky soemtimes

Where you getting your traffic from? SE? or some other source??

you can design that CTR = 5%

1000 uip/week = 142/day = 7 clicks/day
i surely that your market keyword "Arcade Games" is Low eCPM

You have to promote youe site "more traffic = more $$$$"

I think your entry page has adsense links to high and away for the interesting links. I wold place adsense code between each games intro ( where it says browse games )

I would tighten your introduction as the text is all over the place and the font usage is not all that.

lastly, i would introduce 2 new margins outside the grey box i am not plugging mine and this is not linkbait ) but i have a site called www.snesclassics.com that has 2 margins. okay the site has lots of advertising and is not pleasing to a webmasters eye, but its converts well.

Also try getting a premium advertiser like valueclick media ( one banner should convert to $6 a day )

okay another lastly, try maxbounty ( affiliate site ), good setup, good support and nice conversions. they pay about $2.70 a lead on people taking a simple survery to win a nintendo wii or xbox etc.

I'm getting most of my traffic from an online game programming community, and I am expanding to a couple more of them.

I think I will try putting the google ad in between the games. I might also give side bars a try.

I know for sure I'm signing up for maxbounty.

you got msn or yahoo? with 1000 UV a week i would expect you to earn around 12-20$ a week so $48-$80 per month. i can give you a quick run over of your site and tell you how to improve should only take 10 - 15 mins and its of course free =)

Why are everyone consulting the guy what ad program to get. This site needs optimizing, either content optimizing or backlinks. Why should he do the best out of 1000 per week, when he can have 10 000 if he is doing things correctly.

Better work on optimizing and popularizing the site mate and you will see increase of CTR rate.

Sorry, that wasn't the website I meant. That's something new I am trying to develop. I live in Thailand and decided I would make millions :-) selling the #1 selling good luck charms here in Thailand. Anyway not having much luck mainly because only Thai people understand this particular charm and now is on the wane. here's the website.

You should move the inline adsense ad down a little so that it closer to the games. That will make it look more liek links for your website.

Also, that it the only ad you have on there. You should add some more Adsense banners, or sell ad space on the website. You should have no problem making $1.00 a day if you use more ads, or sell ad space.
