Google Adsense and Translations

I am considering providing translations of my website in different languages. Has anyone tried this? Are there downfalls/benefits to this? Also, if you translate your site can you have translated adsense ads?

This subject is obviously a new one, so any info would be great.

I am using an automated script to translate several of my sites into a dozen languages.

The translations range from passable to truly awful. My Spanish readers don't seem bothered, my French readers are livid.

This strategy adds about 30% to my bottom line, so I don't really care what the French think about my abuse of their language.

AdSense ads are generated in real-time, so they cannot be translated. But, it's no worry. Google displays French ads to site visitors coming from France who are looking at French pages. It's all automatic, there's nothing you need to do.

Hey Will, thanks for te repy!

Can you tell me the where you get the script you use? I know google and yahoo have a translator, but haven't used it as of yet. Also, in your opinion, is it worth it to do this on a local website....say a local real estate website? Could you PM me any of your current sites so I can see how it looks in action?

Sorry for your French readers, but good for you!!!

Go Hillary!! (can't access your Hillary link, btw)

I'm guessing you use Google translation? I know it comes with a frame, is there a way to remove it?

If it's an automation process where it detects the IP, can you tell me the software or script you use? I would be very interested in this area.

The translation is just a tool for you to give your visitor some choice on the language. It nothing related to the ads, the ads will not change after translation
