Placement of Adsense Ads

Hello, I have a phpld directory and several wordpress blogs... Recently I have been working on optimizing the placement of my ads. I was wondering where you have found the most success in placement of PPC ads in order to try to figure out the best spot to place them in my sites.

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Best on my experienced, I got more clicks after I put my ads below the header. It's the best place where you put your ads. People can easily spot on this and have a big chance that they will click the ads especially the ads is the one they are looking for.

I got most success from the 250 or 300 square floated top left of the content block.

Generally....

1. Directly below a header (eg a leaderboard sandwiched between your header and text)
2. Directly by/below an image
3. Weaved into the content text of the page

If you're trying to maximise adsense revenue, the right hand side of the page is the first place the human eye veers to, so put some ads in this location if you can.

Google actually shows you a map if you search around their help files of the best spots and the worst spots. I would take their advice since it is their ad program.

You might also want to try installing something like Clickheat to see where users are clicking the most on your site, and then place your ads in the layout based on the results you see from that.

Personally, I like to put ads near the top left or in the sidebars

Placement of ads change for every site what you have to remember is that us webmasters see our sites different from our visitors. surfers are getting smarter making ad placement more difficult for us webmasters. The best thing to do is try to find the best type and size for the area you want the ads. For example putting a 728x15 ad under or above you menu will work well as opposed to a 728x90. Make your ads look and feel natural and test test test test and more test. that the best I can give you.

Surprise the viewer with a brightly colored AdSense zone.

Keep it elegant but it usually works ; )

Ad placement will always depend on your site. The only thing you really need to know is that your ads should be in a visible place, there should be no visible barrier between your ads and your content, and you don't want visitors realizing they are ads.

It's hard for me to tell you what adsense formats would work best for you...It's a combination between quality content sites with relevant ads...Make shure to use the google adsense filter to filter out ads with no relevance to your site content...

I am using 160*600 and 468*60 and I also get a huge amount of traffic on my link ads.
Good luck optimizing your site...

Based on my experience, I got more clicks using link units below the header because it looks like a navigational menu. I also find effective to get more clicks when placing a rectangle ads on the right side. I think this place is more visible to most visitors.
