Review: UnleashTheBeef.com

Excuse the length/detail of this request but I'm looking for very specific points to be addressed so hopefully I'll make it clear here. I'm nearing completion of the layout for my site, and have published four similar pages that I'd like anyone kind enough to look at and critique/provide feedback about the appearance. The pages aren't really active, and the written content that appears is just stuff from a couple ESPN articles I used to fill up space and create the feel of the site for this feedback purpose so don't pay attention to the content, but please let your thoughts flow on the design/appearance. The things I'm wondering about in particular are:

1. White space inside margins (Page 1 & 2) or no (Page 3 & 4)?

2. Black line below logo (Page 1 & 3) or no (Page 2 & 4)?

3. Text alignment in the sidebar... Right, Left, or Middle?

4. Color of tabs on top... the tan gradient (1,2,4) or matching the sidebar (3)?

5. Search bar... keep it on top or locate it above "Contact" in the sidebar?

6. In general (never-minding the sidebar text alignment), which page, 1 2 3 or 4, do you prefer?

Any other tips/suggestions are most welcome. Spacing, fonts, colors, etc, whatever. I have not officially published the site and what I have up has nothing to do with functionality, just appearance. Trying to get everything right before I finish and publish for real. Thanks greatly to those kind enough to respond here.

I also like the simplicity. At first I was thinking more color, but actually, I think I like it the way it is. It fits the black ad white cow theme and causes the cow to stand out in a good way with the pink muzzle. I definately like page 1 the best with just the line under the logo. I think maybe the search box might be better above the contact link, and have you tried putting the navigation on top of the line just below the logo? Just a thought, although, I don't think it's that bad having it where it is.

Chris,

To your questions:
1. Didn't notice much of a difference.
2. No black line
3. Right, helps to separate the sidebar text from the content area text
4. Tan Gradient
5. On top
6. page 4

Nice site, can't wait to actually read the content.

Erik
