You really need to write something good on your ABOUT page. It doesn't explain what the site is about, the goals and a little background info on yourself. This just an opinion on that page.
Try adding the social buttons to all your pages if this isn't done already. This way visitors can submit more content to the social world. I do agree with the poster below about the site looking like it was built in the 1990's. All websites go through there changes and sometimes a few visitors don't like the change but get used to it after awhile.
Take Facebook for example, they did the timeline change but people are starting to like it. A few other sites i belong to did major overhauls and eventually people got used to the changes and newer features. I dont know if you have any competitors but if you do, i'm sure they have added more features or have new design/layout.
