Review: Corporateguru.org
Hello members,
I have recently launched a website called Corporate Guru where you can find articles, analysis and predictions of Corporate related press releases and Companies Action.
Link: www.corporateguru.org
I am still a newbie when it comes to designing a website. Your feedback will be much appreciated!! To be honest, I lack in creativity. So do browse the pages and let me know where I can improvise upon!
Thanks in advance.

I can give you some feedback as a normal user. I dont know much about design either but from the view point of an average joe the overall design I think is okay. Looks a little bit outdated though but it gets the message across well. What I can recommend is it maybe try and use some more modern features on websites.
Thanks

the banner at the top seems dated. also, not sure what the purpose of Boardroom Images is. on /?view=registration, don't see the actual Terms of Service. also, too much space between radio button and Agree.

Hey edwinedwin ,
I agree with you. Indeed the banner looks outdated. I am working on terms of service. My lawyer seems to be taking time to draft one! :/
Regarding radio button - I am changing it to square tick one!
Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
If there are any further suggestions regarding its layout and content, please do communicate...!

The white space to the left of the banner is horribly ugly... the overall layout shouldn't be wider than the banner.
There's no need for all the line breaks between the links in the footer. It doesn't look right. Put them all on the same line with multiple spaces in between or something.
Having a colored background on hover for links is a little less professional than just changing the link color. I don't know, maybe it's just all the personal websites I've visited, but it just doesn't seem right for the type of website you're running. However, that's obviously just my opinion.
The "+" on your Category Catalog doesn't do anything.
The red text on the "About Us" page is a no. It doesn't fit with the color scheme.
Just call the home page "Home". Doesn't need a longer explanation, I think.

Review :
1. Design is too simple.
2. Logo is very basic, i can't imagine this to be LOGO.
3. Change the header image.
4. Poor navigation. Links in footer are so confusing.
Visit CssMania is take some inspiration.

Thanks so much! I have removed the links in footer. And tried changing the layout. Also, I am experimenting with colors in the background! Any suggestions?

1. The banner/logo at top looks very outdated and takes up a lot of space. Also the search box doesn't look right in the banner.
2. Navigation is lacking. The only thing I see is the Welcome to and about us. I would add a contact and home button to the navigation.
3. I'm not sure what the boardroom images are for on the right hand side, seems like wasted space. I would remove this and put your follow us links in place of it. You want to connect with your users so put your social buttons in a place users can find.
The design is simple but simple is good. Clean up the large image at top and navigation are the two biggest problems I see.

Remove the large image at the top and replace it with a logo. You can get someone to design it for you here or at digital point. Make sure the logo is clickable (i.e. links back to the homepage)
Remove the login. Why are users logging in anyways?
Get rid of the boardroom images. Use that space for an advertisement or just move up your power picks.
Reduce the number of powerpicks to three in the sidebar. You can make a page to showcase your others. The number you have now is a little cluttered.
I'd put the follow links in the header space and the search in one of the sidebars.
Add images to your stories to make them more appealing to web users. People like visual stimulus.

The logo is wayy too simple. The board room pictures many are stretched out you should resize them before using it. Powersells of books also seem irrelevant or isn't really corresponding with your content.

As many have said, your banner at the top immediately doesn't make you seem like a professional company. Get a logo and incorporate that into some kind of banner if want to have a banner like that.
A lot of your images are also very low quality, like the yatra one thats not too far down the page is being expanded way too much and it makes it extremely low quality.
In the little bar at the very bottom of the page try adding either a back to top button, a copy of your main navigation (assuming you have one), a sitemap, or a whole bunch of different things. It seems like a lot of wasted space to me right now.
The video you have is way too wide, so there are really bad black bars on each side to cope for the resolution ratio. When using a video in that sense, always try to keep it in the same aspect ratio, which sometimes doesn't look good, if that is the case perhaps a link to the video would be better, or you could put the video smaller and in a box on one of your columns.
On your "About Us" page I would definitely change that text to black. I personally really dislike colored text unless it is a link, title, or emphasizing one or two words.
With your YouTube I would go and try and get yourself a YouTube background other than just a default color and then make the link to your featured page instead of your video page. Also when you hover over those icons a blue, selection type box appears around them, I would try and get rid of that.
Overall I think this site has a lot of potential, but for now its just a lot of little things that are holding you back.

Also not a fan of the banner/logo up top. I'm sure you can make it thinner and get a nice logo designed for a little bit of money.
For a news-type site, you want to have more content on the main page.. maybe a 'recent posts' widget or somethign showing the last 10 or something since you're only showing 3 on the main page.
Put the categories into a nav menu at the top so people can get around easier
Great start though

Your site works with www and without www and this can make your entire site as a duplicate content site. Adding 3,4 lines to your htaccess can fix the issue.

Thanks a lot everyone for giving such wonderful ideas. Being a newbie takes a lot of time to build it.. As I was busy with increasing the back links, I overlooked the design of the main webpage!!
I did few changes to the main website.. Any more suggestions, always welcome!

You should redesign the header picture, it's in contrast with you content which seems that is have value. Try something more bussines class. Nice widget with that amazon books.

My
Browny points for using flexible font size. It was a bit too small when I first arrived but I can enlarge the font using View/Text size in my browser.
The Yatra.com logo looks like you enlarged it to fit. Hence it is foggy and doesn't look very nice.
I would agree you do need to do something about your main header. Not hugely ugly but it is definately lacking something. It is surrounded by h1 tags which is not proper heading structure.
Speaking of headings and heading structure, you navigation looks like you used headings to force formatting instead of using the correct heading order and altering the visual look via CSS.
The site is running a little slow. You better look into that because some people won't be patient to wait = no good word of mouth comments around the net.
That is a start.
