Review: livingjunction.com

Hello!

We recently launched a consumer web service called Living Junction (www.livingjunction.com).

It would be great to hear your opinions about the landing page and how it conveys the concept (do you get what the service is about, do you want to check it out, etc.).

You can also give a review the concept itself and/or user experience inside the service - any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think you will have serious problems with "pageload speeds" in the long run. I've just tried to click one "magazine" and it's pictures are crawling to load up. (My internet speed is at 16mbps by the way).

The concept is really good. I looked like Facebook + Pinterest to me - more on Pinterest though. But the great idea of having it "localized" ... it might work in Finland.

And since the concept is not really that unique, I would suggest you find ways to entice new would-be signups (like me) by telling them/us how it is different from Pinterest... or what makes it better that the famous social networks...

You have 8 validation errors and 5 warnings which can be corrected with the aid of HTML Tidy
http://infohound.net/tidy/

Sometimes validation errors can effect load speeds and display problems. Most errors and warnings can be corrected by following validation software suggestions. They give line numbers and suggestions to correction. Then there is good compression software that can improve load speeds without effecting quality of pictures. Also putting some of the page in external scripts or HTML can speed the load time, and the order of loading the page information can speed things up. If you need help finding the appropriate software, just ask.

Thanks for all the great feedback and resources regarding the bugs and speed. This is still very much a work-in-progress and some of the things you pointed we we're already familiar with but it always helps to get an outside perspective.

thanks!

Maybe you should think about demonstration profile or article, for people who don't want to register

This responds to any feedback part of your question. yoursite/about-us/ and yoursite/about-us returns same thing. This is a duplicate content. Make sure only one version of it works. This can be fixed by adding couple lines to your htaccess file. That last forward slash is important, eh. I had to put yoursite instead of your actual site, because V7N says I have to have 20 posts before I can post URLs.
