dotservant.com is liked by many
Hi Steven,

Nice and simple layout, easy navigations..but there seems lacking written content on the pages, search engines needs content to figure out what the page is actually talking about, and pages with only links is treated less important pages in search engines eyes.

suggest content:
anything on SEO, internal SEO, external SEO, pagerank, sitemaps, menus, layout, anything that would be of interest for webmasters to improve. Remember, there are more beginners than experts.
hope this helps

I like it. It's got a nice slick style to it and looks very modern.

Design and Theme:
The menu buttons are fantastic and I really like them. I think maybe if you add a subtle hover effect to them it might enhance it a bit, but then again you can have too many effects on a website if you're not careful.

The icons beside the links are great, and can really intrigue visits into visiting your links rather than just thinking it's just another directory.

The background is horrible. IMO you should have a light background color with maybe some sort of abstract image.

Domain:
The domain could be potentially quite good, especially with the keywords Web and Directory but unless I'm missing something there probably wouldn't be a lot of people looking for a "Web Engine Directory", but I guess with the right promotion it could go far

Promotion:
Apparently with the correct promotion and work done web directory's can really become quite profitable. I think John sold one of his directories for quite a large sum of money a while back, so keep promoting (even spend a good load of money on promoting) and within time I'm sure it'll be really successful.

Overall: I'd give it a 6 out of 10 based on the style as I think you have a good bit of promotion and visitors to get to the site.

Mark

Nice home page, simple and clean. I found that on your links to main categories (such as Sports and Rec) that none of the jpg's or gif's that you had associated with the 2nd level of links came up for me. I am a mac user and I was browsing using Safari, Firefox and IE 5.2 for Mac same results on all browsers.

Additionally I also found that the category links (such as Sports and Rec) took a while to load for me and I have a pretty fast connection to the net. Sports and Rec took about 30 seconds for all the little boxes to come up with the question marks for the broken links to the sub categories. This was done on both a iMac G4 1GHz (1 GB Ram) and a iMac G5 Dual Core 2 GHz (2 GB Ram) on the above listed browsers. For me generally when I see the broken links come up especially with some many I just move on to another website. Your graphics do come up on your home page.

Hope you find this info useful.

Nick

I don't know if it's allowed or not, but I would be tempted to, #1) make the blue on the V7 banner a unique color, but one that blends with the rest of the page , or, #2) simply change the hue of the existing blue to better blend the banner to the rest of the page. Maybe do some brt/con adjustments etc as well, as this is often what it takes to blend, rather than a hue change. Sometimes both a hue and brt/con changes are best. Sometimes a color saturation reduction is all that's needed to blend it just right.
