Write With Your Reader in Mind: Three Crucial Points to Consider

Todays tip is as follows:

Quote:
Without readers, your blog is nothing more than a personal journal. That’s fine if you’re blogging in order to establish a writing practice or to create a body of work – but it’s not so great if you’re hoping to make money or build up a reputation in your field.

Whenever you plan, write or edit a post, you need to have your readers firmly in mind. Here are four crucial points to think about:

So true. Many cell phones have the ability to record sound so that would make it quite easy if only we could get used to the idea and make use of it.

If I am near a pc or have internet access I still email myself notes to remember stuff. Lately i have also been making use of Dropbox to drop myself a note in a saved file that is synced to be accessible from anywhere in the world.

Write About What You Don't Know

A nice little blog post to read.

Quote:
Nothing passes as quickly as the memory of not knowing, of the time when you still had to learn whatever it is, of the days you knew dip****. Sure, there's a vague impression of not being sure and maybe a funny anecdote or two about how you messed something up, but the real specifics are gone.

That's a shame because the people after you would love to know what you found out. They would worship you like a god really appreciate it if you could correctly answer the very questions you had.

There's blogging gold in them early days…

I also do that. I have a little notebook and a pen with me at all times. I also have these beside my bed because most of my creative ideas come out at 3AM!

Nice blog post to check out.

How to be a World-Changing Writer

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. Check out this little tip.

Quote:
As a copywriter, you know that words have power.

You know words can influence, inform, and inspire.

They can persuade your fellow humans to do some amazing things (or to do the wrong things, but we won’t go there today).

What you may not realize is that your words can change the world.

Here’s something else that’s really cool that you might not have realized …

The keys to world-changing writing are also the keys to damn good copywriting.

But as you know, good writing doesn’t happen all by itself. So let’s talk about what it takes to be damned good … and what it takes to change the world.

48 Elements of Persuasive Written Content

Very good blog post, a little long but a good read.

Quote:
You feel your blood pressure rising.

Maybe you’re mad, maybe you’re inspired, or maybe you’re just excited to find someone who really, truly gets you. Regardless, your attention is riveted — you can’t look away.

Bang!

You’ve just been spellbound by content that persuades. It grabs us like nothing else can.

How?

The truth is, words are very powerful things.

They can make us buy things we didn’t think we needed. They can reveal ideas that we’ve been looking for for years. They can make us cry or laugh almost hysterically.

Professional writers know how to use the right words to communicate their intent, they become masters of telling stories over time.

But they don’t just...

A 7-Step Content Creator’s Creativity Cleanse

Copyblogger always puts out good blog posts to read. Take a look at this one.

A 7-Step Content Creator’s Creativity Cleanse

Quote:
Oh no. It’s happening …

You sit down to write, and instead of falling into a productive creative flow, you sit there staring at a blank screen.

You watch the cursor blink on-off-on; your fingers are aching to type, poised over the keyboard — but no words are coming out.

No, Hell hasn’t frozen over. You’re just in a writing slump.

You’re in a place where you can’t write — or where you can write, but what’s coming out is, well, less than great.

What do you do?

Don’t worry, it happens to the best of ‘em.

Are you suffering from writer’s block?

There are endless things that....

3 Tips for Effective Article Brainstorming

This is a good blog post for a Friday.

Quote:
One of the big challenges faced by content marketers is the constant need to think up new ideas, often around the same topic. This is particularly true when it comes to blogging. These days, the shelf life of even the most compelling blog posts is pretty short thanks to our ever-decreasing attention spans and Google’s bias towards new content. A blog is like a great white shark—it has to keep moving or it dies.

In order to keep your content engaging, relevant, and regularly-updated, you need to keep the creative juices flowing in your editorial team. So the next time you get together to brainstorm some article ideas, here are 3 tips that might help...

i get that when I am going to bed. All the things I think about come to me. Of course, I say "I will remember then in the morning." Keeping a little notebook by my bed helps me to remember.

4 Tools To Help Generate Content Ideas

Another good blog post to help you with writing.

Quote:
Since the fall out of Google Animal Apocalypse there has been lots of talk of content and content marketing. None of this is new, Google has been preaching content since the day dot and savvy Internet Marketers have been using content for years. The panic that Google has caused appears to have been pretty widespread and thousands of businesses and SEO agencies are now faced with having to update the way the promote their website online.

Creating okay content is not going to be enough and if you want to succeed online you need to be producing content that deserves to rank based on how informative and useful it is to real people – rather than how well optimised it is. Producing content of this calibre is not easy and a lot of people fall at the first hurdle. Although there uis no replacement for a creative and forward thinking team there are a number of tools that will allow you to kick start that process.

8 Simple Tips That Will Make You Write Faster and Better

I thought this was a good read this morning.

Quote:
Every small business owner needs more time. One way to find it is to work faster. For online business especially, writing places a big demand on time. Free up some of that time by using these simple tips to write faster and better.

1. Type faster and more accurately. If you feel like your brain moves faster than your fingers or you are constantly backing up to fix typos, a typing course will improve your speed and accuracy. Your overall writing will likely improve as well because you can concentrate more on the content and less on finding your way around the keyboard.

2. Split your writing tasks and do one task at a time: ◦Keep a list of ideas. There's nothing worse than spending time staring at a blank screen instead of writing. Keep an ongoing list of ideas so that you always have a topic at hand.

Good morning. I found a good tip for today to share.

Whether working on a deadline or managing simultaneous beats, journalists need to be able to write quickly. But maintaining quality can be a challenge when you’re racing against the clock.

In a recent Poynter chat, writing expert and strategist Roy Peter Clark, author of Writing Tools: 50 Essential Strategies for Every Writer, says all writers can increase their turnaround time. He shared his own tips as well as those of some of America’s fastest writers.
