Many high page ranked and authority article websites accept 250 to 300 words. Be unique with your article content do not copy from other website.

Article Length

It is much better if your article length is in between 500 to 700 words.Your article is having rich keyword density, cover concept of keyword prominence, and article should be target to your audience and uniqueness in your article.

Article length question

Article length is basically depend on the subject and audience of the article. The article should be quite easy to understand to the people. There must be interesting things that people can read whole article. According the topic you can increase or decrease the length of article.
Tech articles - 600 to 700 words
Research paper - more than 2000 words

If you are confused about writing article or how to approach the subject matter look for examples. Read other essays to help you understand how to organize and present the information. Look at how the author introduces the topic, develops the idea and provides a clear conclusion.

Wordy

I've always aimed for 400-500 words for articles and blog posts. Whenever possible.

The length of your article depends on a bunch of different things. There is no "magic" length that is perfect for every article, or for every niche.

For every article you write, the goal should be to establish yourself as an expert, teach the reader something new, answer readers' questions, or solve their problems. By the time readers make it to the end of your article, they should feel like they got some valuable information out of you. Can you make them feel like that in 250 words? Probably not; that's awfully short. My company doesn't even write SEO articles that are less than 400 words, because we don't feel like you can give the reader something new in an article that's shorter than that.

However, longer articles aren't necessarily better. If you ramble on for 1,000 words, alot of people will get bored, and, thus, never make it to your resource box (and your link!).

You will have to judge each article individually. Making your articles compelling is goal #1. Some topics lend themselves to 700 or 800 or even 1,000 words, while others drag on once you hit 500 words.

Your best bet? Read your articles carefully before you publish them. If they feel too long (or too short), readers will likely feel the same way.

that makes sense devonshire, but is there a way to accomplish both goals (get enough words while keeping it interesting)? and at what point do you sacrifice the words to keep it interesting?

I have found that the article purchasers I've worked with want at least 500 words at a minimum, others want closer to 600 +.

It does kind of depend on the topic and what the pay scale is. I would think a highly technical article might need to be longer, and obviously, the pay should be higher.

Basically, many sites require the submission of the article 250 and article 300 words. This creates the article in this series of words. Some sites require a minimum of 500 words of the article.

I always go for at least 400 words when submitting to article directories, but save my best work for my own websites and blogs where I will often write much more detailed articles.

In my opinion, a great article length should be 500 words if u want to give the best article regarding the detailed view or it should be minimum 300 words. Some quality directories ask for more than 500 words.
