Re: Article Length Question

Basically many article submission websites need 250 - 300 words article. So, you create article in this range of words. Some sites need atleast 500 words article.

At 300 - 500 words, I think your just "barely" touching on the edge of quality information.

A lot of it depends on your audience - are you writing for doctors, lawyers, engineers, or high school drop outs? The better a person can read, the more likely they are to read.

Hollywood drama news - <500 words.
Tech articles - 800+ words
Research paper - 1,000+ words

Last weekend I posted an article that was around 1,700 words - it included 2 videos, and 4 images. Even thought it took almost 5 hours to write, those are the types of articles I like to write.

The length of the article depends on where you will post that article. If you are writing for a magazine or a blog then a length of about 600 - 700 words is enough. However if you are writing for submissions to article directory then you should keep the length as minimal as possible.

The reason is that most of the article directories allow 'dofollow' links only in the author bio box and the faster the reader or the search bot reaches those links the better it is for you.

300-500 words is the normal length for most article submission sites but if you are referring to articles that you will be writing in your own blogs, then I think 600 is ok.

I prefer 450-550 words; that makes a nice page and doesn't bore people. Under 400 words and you haven't even said Hello.

Frequently my articles run 1200 to 1500 words. I usually try to pick a natural break point and break it into two or more articles when that happens. When I do that I include a statement that "this article continues in 'title' ".

Other sites might have different needs. I can understand that a personal blog might have much shorter articles.

Depending on the purpose of the article.

For SEO purposes, 500 words is a good rule of thumb. Any shorter search engines won't pick it up as well. Read some articles on Short copy vs Long copy.

MarketingExperiments did a good study on that.

Cheers.

There are actually no basic guidelines for the length of the articles to put on websites. However, notice not to make it too long or too short. Very long articles will tiring the reader while the short ones will may give non adequate information to viewers. Just make it about 200-300 words for the best.

I don't think flushing out a decent article or topic has a limit on either end of the scale for word count. Cover the topic with style and informative unique content in a manner that your readers will appreciate and don't worry about the word count.

We don't think there can be any guides to article writing. All depends on the specialties of the article. Try to study how to make good speech guides, there you can find helpful information about making a topic.

I usually target 500 to 600 words for an article. Although a lot of articles still rank well with only about 300 words, IMHO most articles tend to rank better with more text.

500 words. Not too short, not too long. Just the right length to hold your reader's attention. If it can't be helped, just break them into parts.

recently wrote a couple of articles with 400+ words and kept it precise and concise. but while submitting most high PR good sites would only accept articles 500 or 600 words long
this is quite new as i have submitted to the same sites before with short articles. Spam has reached here to forcing them to change rules

It really depends, a good standard article should be at least 300 words.
What is important is to make sure your keyword density for the chosen keyword is around 5-10%.

My experience has been, that if you write an article with quality content, that provides an interesting read, then your article generally gets accepted. So my take would be, I would not rely on putting words in just to have enough words. It may not get accepted. However if you have something relevant to say you will always have enough words.
