Article writing vs. article spinning

As a copywriter, I'm no fan of spinners and the programs they use. Last summer, I ranted about them on my old blog, and took some heat for my "repressive" attitude.

Sorry about that! I don't like liars, cheats and thieves, and I've added copy-spinners to that group. The effect is as bad as spam, in my book.

This sums up my feelings pretty well:

I hear you on that. I wonder if there's a way to dissuade folks from doing that with the content that we create, like how photographers use watermarks to prevent folks from taking digital pictures and claiming it as their own.

Funny you should mention that, Chris. I'm toying with an idea now, that I think is feasible. Waiting for some input from a guru to see if my idea is loco or not.

If it's not, I'd be interested in hearing more.

I used to write an article, submit it to Ezinearticles, then create 5 spun versions and submit it elsewhere. However I became so bored with this, that I went back to my original method of submitting the same article to the largest article directories, and the results were just as good.

So I think spinning is largely a waste of time, particularly as the word is that Google are getting better at spotting spun content.

I think it depends on what spinning service you use. It takes a big hassle out of taking the time to write several articles when you can just spin one multiple times.

I'd rather write original articles like 10 articles and then submit them to different article directories rather than creating 1 article and then spin in order to create more versions. Search engines love fresh/unique content. I'll stick to that.
