Question HTML to PDF Converter for eBooks?

I have an ebook in development that I want to create in HTML but market in PDF. I have found some free converters online and tried a couple of them with no problems, but I was wondering about security issues. Is there anything I should worry about with these things? It makes me wonder why Adobe is charging a monthly fee for something other folks are giving away with no strings attached. Any other ebook writers out there who'd like to share their experiences?

What type of security issues are you worrying about? Viruses or someone stealing your work?

A few years back I went to an Adobe presentation here. I asked the same thing of the presenter. He answer was the only way you can protect your PDF and not have them crack the protection you can apply in Adobe Acrobat is to pay for their service.

Thanks. If that's the only risk, I'll take it. My ebook is for knitters -- not exactly a high-risk group.

If you went with Acrobat, you can make it print your copyright notice in the background when they print it. Not sure if other pdf makers can do this.

If using a Mac you can use pages which is a part of iWork. Pages allows you to create and export in PDF and HTML both. So you are using one program to do exactly what you are asking for. No overly high priced Adobe software required.

I've actually used iWork on my Mac, and it's served me very well! If you don't have a Mac, maybe you can ask a friend who's an Apple user?

You can go to printfriendly.com and it converts any page to pdf. That's what I use when I want a page in pdf form and it looks legit to me so no worries about security issues. Of course you do have to upload the HTML page so you can get the pdf version but I guess you can just remove the page once you got the pdf for your ebook, that's if you don't want anyone else seeing the HTML version of your ebook.
