Very useful points, I always try to avoid the mistakes described. however, it can be not so easy: sometimes crafting a good headline is a real challenge. the best solution is to think of your copy and headline from a buyer's perspective.

Great point about being "too witty".

When I first wrote my content I was too focused on making it funny. I now follow the KISS formula: keep it simple, stupid!

I think that this article is part of the problem with copywriting.

First of all, a good copywriter should be a psychologist. Someone, who knows how to appeal to people's emotions. The amount of pre-programmed actions, like making sure that your benefits don't mix up with features, only work to a certain extent.

I think copywriting articles should concentrate more on psychological methods, applied to content and examples of them in action.

There's nothing new and/or unique in this post.

Nice post , Thanks for the link. I really like the point "Headlines" as these are the key factors to be kept in mind while writing.

It is useful to learn from own mistakes and not repeat them more, so the quality of copyright will rise significantly after a while.

I would definitely agree that on the four points being incredibly important. You have to catch the reader with a good headline that works, got to make sure they have some reason to keep reading and you need to make sure that the layout looks great and is easy to skim as no one really reads long paragraphs anymore. Will definitely be keeping this in mind from now on.

Yes, copywriting is about drafts, whether you do it alone and for yourself or for an employer. Often you figure out things along the way and see what works best. Actually, you think more and you write less.

Thanks for sharing snake.

A guy working as a copywriter here.

I've had problems with headlines before, and quite frankly, thinking of it and the first paragraph takes way more time and brain juice compared to writing the article itself.

Nowadays though, I'm sounding more and more like Buzzfeed and those spam websites on Facebook. The articles are gaining views though...so I have that going for me, which is nice.

In the second part, I actually recommend talking about the BENEFIT rather than feature a company's works. In this case, it's best to make up real-life situations and insert a few bullets about how the company could help address these dilemmas.

Third, I always write in a conversational tone, as if I'm talking to the buyer. Using "you" always works in your favor. That being said, I think overly formal articles are sh*t.

As for the content layout, it's up to the guy responsible for posting it. However, I'd prefer a couple of spaces

I love how 90% of the responses just ignore "read the blog post and not just post your answer's".

Over time you simply develop a knack for writing for the web. My bad habit used to be making paragraphs too large and trying to be too original with content titles.

I'm not sure when started to focus more on readability. I've been publishing to the web for so long, just became something I focused on more as I compared my work to others.
