It depends on certain factors
1) Position of the article on that web page.

2) How the content is being build ? Is it just text or it has images or videos as well.

3) And Lastly and most important CONTENT. How good is it!

You have to use enough words to be certain that your message is understood by the reader......
If you only write by the numbers, then you must be thinking about writing for the search engines....
Engines will not buy things from your site....

putting the content should be on the number of word but delivering massage and make your audience and understand what you are telling them. That is what you should focus on than counting the words.

generally 500 words

your content shouldn't be less then 500 words, any way. further, it depends on the topic which you want to speak to upon. sometimes it may go upto 2500 and above words also. so fixation is word number on web is not a better thought

Around 500 words will do you good. short and concise. Always remember to consider the attention span of your visitor. Not all visitor have a long attention span. If your webpage contains too much, the visitor might get overwhelmed and eventually move on to another website.

I would recommend 300 words and up for web content.

Keep your keyword use to around 1% or less.

Use Copyscape to make sure your content is unique. Even if you write from scratch, you'd be surprised by what is out there that is similar.

There is no set amount of words really. Whatever how many words it takes to get the point across in the topic that you are writing about.

When writing blog posts, some people break up blog posts into 2 to 3 part series so subscribers have to come back to continue reading more on the topic that you started.

design & layout of web page, what information want you to give in the web page helps to set a minimum no of words but there is no minimum word limit set by any internet marketer or search engine.

It depends on what's your niche as well. Tutorial websites & Travel niche requires more content. It varies from industry to industry.

There are no exact numbers.

But content should be sufficient enough to convey the information. I keep minimum 300 words for my web pages though.

The correct number of words for your web page content depends on 4factors:
*The number of words for web pages that rank in the top 10 results for your targeted keyword if they are more than 1000 words , try to increase your page words for more than 1000 words.
*The competition of your niche and your targeted keyword.
* Try not to write a post under 400 words.
* keep in your mind to write unique and valuable content.

It depends on individual. I like to keep it within 400-600 words.
I will have keywords in my articles so that Google can crawl my post.

But the important thing is all the article that I post must be informative and help the reader in some ways.
