There is no limit for the word count just make sure you are writing high quality article in a natural way. An article of 250 words written in an interesting way and get shared by large number of people is worth than an article of 1000 words low quality content. So it is good to focus on quality not quantity.

Agreed with the above comments. It's not the length but it's the words you use and if you add keywords into the article, make it sound natural..
Here is a helpful blog post.

I just write content till I say what I have to say and make it easy for people to understand. I don't care about the SEO part, if someone can understand that the topic is about and get the help or knowledge needed, my work is done.

500 words and above should be fine. However, I find it ideal to write contents in 750 words or more. The longer, the better. You can target more keys and related keys the more information you write in your content.

alright, the important is quality: everyone understant what you're writing in your post, and the title in your post includes the keywords, but it's not short.

I have tested this on 30+ sites and I have found that my posts that are over 6000 characters rank faster. On average 6000 characters is around 900-1000 words.
Notice I didn't use words as the metric, word count as a metric is unimportant in my experience.
This isn't a hard and fast rule, but given equal circumstance I have found this to be the case. Until you test on many sites just stating that content length is unimportant is not factually correct. Once you have a good readership and a well respected site then ranking posts of only 2000 characters is easily achievable. Try doing that on a brand new site though? Then try A/B testing on 10 new sites, 20, 30. Then maybe give an informed view based on hard data. You will find the same as me I'm sure.
Too many people state length of post isn't important, in many cases it is.

Thank you Mr. Knowledge =)
Above that, you will probably rank for multiple long tail variants of the keyword you optimized. Why not seven minutes or 1,600 words : lol:

Google likes long content. There isn't an ideal length, but try to keep it at least at 500 words. I use tools like semrush to tell me suggested lengths for articles. Usually that suggested length is between 700 to 1000 words.

I will prefer 1500+ words article to rank on competitive keywords. Longer article has higher user experience & social shares rather than just very short article of 500 words.
This article has around 1500 words

Good user behavior & more social shares always a strong signals for search engines to rank these articles.

Generally, article of more than 600 words is best. But if want to increase the length of the article you may. As good quality's content is gone to give you benefit at the end

What data do you have to back up this statement?
Did you read the thread from start to finish before 'guessing' at an answer?

400 to 600 word length would be appropriate.
If you want, you can write longer versions too; but it would be better to add images or video to make viewer engrossed.

There is no maximum length for article to be search engine friendly while 500 words minimum is ok for search engines indexing.
