How to Come up With More Than Enough (Great) Ideas for Your Blog

I'm surprised a few idea's I already practice myself when I am brain dead on what to write next.

Are you practicing these methods for coming up with ideas? If not, how do you come up with topics to blog about?

Quote:
Do you ever sit staring at your computer screen, wondering what the heck you’re going to post about?

Maybe you scramble around for an idea – any idea! – and then rush into it.
Or maybe you give up, and you don’t write a post at all.

Coming up with enough ideas for your blog can be daunting, whatever stage you’re at. If you’ve just started blogging, you might be struggling to decide on your topics and what to blog about. If you’ve been blogging for years, you might feel like you’ve already covered everything..

You can find idea for your blog from social media I understand that social media is something from where you can get to know about the real world and real time things which is trending on net and then you can focus on developing content or your blog or website to integrate those ideas on your website.

Good ideas come when least expected. So, make sure you carry a notepad or a smartphone application for that matter.

You can come up with great ideas for your blogs by looking at the "trending" section on social media channels.

These days when I'm looking for inspiration, I simply come here! The ongoing topics of discussion here usually provide enough fuel for thought to be able to come up with a good blog post topic.

There's a popular quote out there by F. Sionil Jose. He says that, "Writing is a solitary profession; you are really alone when you write. Then the emotions become well shaped and distinct. But their transition into words must be done deliberately and with rigid artistry."

I disagree with this completely because as a writer, I find it difficult always come up with ideas on my own. Ideas aren't created in a vacuum. Even if I have all the time to read, study, and think about what I want to write, they're all still my point of view, my insight. I still process all the new information the same way so nothing changes.

So what I do when I run out of ideas is to talk to people. People who come from different background, who have different ideas. I don't always agree with them but at the end of the conversation, I always find myself discovering something new, a different direction, on the same old topics I write about.

Since you mentioned finding "trending" topics, I'd just throw that I usually check the history and how "trending" it is on Google Trend. It's a neat free tool that also shows you what region the topic is trending. It also gives you all related queries too.

I also get ideas from comments left on my blog and emails my email subscribers sent me. They show what challenges they face and what they are looking to find in your site.

I brainstorm with other people IRL. Having other people in the same room with you and different POV really helps inject some creativity and new ideas into the blogging process.

Post How to come up with blog ideas

When you start out, it's easier to come up with ideas but once you write a few posts you start running out of them. What I do is, when I get one idea I try to think of variations or similar ideas and write them all down at once. It's like a boost.
1. Usually, when you're in bed at night and can't sleep, you get a lot of ideas. WRITE THEM! You think you'll recollect your thoughts in the morning but that usually doesn't happen easily at least in my experience.

2. Go on YouTube, see what's trending. Look what's in your subscriptions because what you like to see could also be what you enjoy writing about whether it's DIYs or social media growth tips, etc.

3. Google it. Google blogs similar to yours. For example, if you have a lifestyle blog then search for other lifestyle blogs and try to vary what they post a little bit so it doesn't seem like you are copying them (if that is something you would like to avoid). Many times you will also think of points not mentioned in that post so you could make up a completely original piece of work.

4. If you find ideas on the web, don't read the blog post from where you got the idea. Just read the title. Because you may get influenced and end up writing the same points. If you just read the title then your own thoughts will come up first. They could still be the same but you may get a few new ones.

5. Make spider diagrams/ bubble flow charts/whatever you prefer to call them. If even two things on ur chart have a few differences, you have two separate blog post ideas from the same topic! You can decide if you want completely stand alone topics or not. However, if you have related topics you could put in links and self-promote your other posts on each post and maybe even get more views!

Hope this helps!

Another thing I forgot to mention in my previous reply here was that keep your real life in mind, get inspired by things around you. This may be harder if you are pursuing a blog that isn't lifestyle or something like that but it may work!

If you really feel empty of ideas to write, take a holiday break, and enjoy movement.

I have trouble about this as I think I have exhausted topics already. I am keeping track of the trends though. Same keywords and all, but I have to come up with new topics. I hope to get ideas in this thread.

Just clicked on the link on your signature. You have a very informative website.
I am sure I will learn a lot from your site. Thanks.

Best thing I would say is to keep a notebook with you and write down your random thoughts on different subjects. Also read widely. Dedicate a considerable amount of time just reading

Thank you for these tips!

Like what you said in the article, I try to do themed posts for different days/weeks. It's pretty effective. Besides that, I always try to read the news, the trends, and other updates. I always try to write content that is connected to what is happening around.

I've noticed you always share great posts.
The one tip that I really liked from this is a 20-minute technique to brainstorm ideas. I am wondering if anyone tried it yet?

Also the 4th method - it is easy to get some good ideas while reading other blogs. This one is tested.

Thanks for sharing!

"Theme posts for different days of the week" Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I gather 3 day weeks for you then?

I rely on forums, question answer sites and communities. I keep an eye on what are the most frequent and challenging queries of the users around a particular niche and then I choose a topic that can address such queries.

If I'm looking for ideas I typically go in adwords research and start looking for keywords. From there its usually 5-10 minutes until I have a topic idea.
